The arms of Commander Evan Petley-Jones were taken from the arms of his two great-grandfathers, Sir Charles Thomas Jones, Kt., of Montgomery, Powis, Wales, and Charles Carter Petley, Esq. of Riverhead, Kent, England. The shield of the Petleys has been differenced by the lion passant guardant and the Saracen’s head of Jones ancestry. The anchor in the canton is in reference to Commander Petley-Jones’s naval career. |
